TL;DR

Director Commercial Legal (Legaltech): Lead and build the commercial legal function including drafting, negotiating, and closing a wide range of commercial agreements and vendor contracts with an accent on scalable contracting frameworks, CLM systems, and AI-enabled process improvements. Focus on managing complex enterprise contracts, supporting fast-moving sales teams, and developing legal infrastructure in a B2B SaaS environment.

Location: Remote within the United States only

Salary: $235,000 - $360,000

What you will do

• Own and lead the commercial legal function end-to-end, partnering with Sales, Revenue Operations, and Finance
• Draft, negotiate, and close commercial agreements including MSAs, DPAs, NDAs, and vendor contracts
• Build scalable contracting frameworks, CLM systems, playbooks, and internal trainings
• Drive continuous improvement using automation and AI-enabled tools to reduce cycle times
• Manage and develop a contracts manager and grow the legal team as the business scales
• Partner cross-functionally with Privacy, Security, Product, and Finance to ensure accurate and defensible commercial terms

Requirements

• Must be admitted and in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
• 10+ years of experience drafting and negotiating enterprise commercial agreements in B2B SaaS or cloud environments
• Proven experience supporting fast-moving sales organizations and building commercial legal infrastructure
• People management experience with ability to remain hands-on
• Passion for process improvement, automation, and applying AI tools to legal workflows
• Familiarity with data privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA) and experience with DPAs

Nice to have

• Technical fluency working alongside engineering and product teams
• Experience with CLM platforms (e.g., Docusign IAM, Ironclad), CRM, and collaboration tools
• Exposure to open source licensing or developer-facing commercial models
