Software Engineer - Video (AI)

Location: Remote in the USA; not eligible for hire in California, New York, Washington, Pennsylvania, or Connecticut. Occasional travel may be required for project or team meetings.

Salary: $138,700–$203,900 annually, depending on location. Equity and corporate bonus plan may also be available.

What you will do

• Design, implement, test, deploy, and operate real-time services with high throughput and low latency requirements.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, technical design, estimation, sprint planning, coding, deployment, and on-call support.
• Build and maintain reliable, scalable services for a globally distributed voice communications platform.
• Work with product managers, stakeholders, architects, and cross-functional teams to deliver robust customer solutions.
• Respond to incidents and continuously improve service reliability, availability, performance, and media fidelity.

Requirements

• 2–3+ years of hands-on experience with large-scale distributed applications using JVM-based technologies.
• Strong Java fundamentals and experience with RESTful services, API design, and event-driven architectures such as Kafka or SQS.
• Experience with CI/CD, cloud infrastructure such as AWS, GCP, OpenStack, or Azure, and monitoring tools including Prometheus, Datadog, or Grafana.
• Experience with on-call rotations, incident response, technical documentation, and effective written communication.
• Proficiency with AI coding assistants and the ability to evaluate AI-generated code for correctness, security, performance, and maintainability.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field, with strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems.

Nice to have

• Experience using AI to increase engineering productivity and scaling SQL/NoSQL data tiers and caching systems.
• Experience designing horizontally scalable, resilient backend systems that perform under load.
• Knowledge of SIP and Stir/Shaken protocols.
