Principal Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Fully remote within the United States; must live in and be eligible to work in the US.

Compensation: $210,000–$235,000 depending on experience, plus bonus.

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership across engineering teams and product initiatives while remaining hands-on in software development.
• Design, implement, and evolve scalable, secure, reliable, and high-performance enterprise software, APIs, microservices, and cloud-native architectures.
• Build AI-powered capabilities and champion practical AI-assisted development across engineering.
• Evaluate LLMs, RAG, AI agents, MCP, and agentic development workflows, applying sound judgment about when AI creates value.
• Lead complex initiatives from design through production deployment, troubleshoot critical issues, and drive modernization, automation, and technical excellence.
• Mentor senior engineers and emerging technical leaders while collaborating with Product Management, Architecture, Security, DevOps, and Engineering leadership.

Requirements

• 15+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering enterprise-scale applications.
• Expert-level proficiency in Java, modern software engineering practices, and distributed systems.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot, APIs, microservices, cloud-native development, and enterprise application architecture.
• Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools and building AI-powered software products, integrations, or developer productivity solutions.
• Familiarity with LLMs, RAG, AI agents, MCP, or comparable AI technologies.
• Deep understanding of AWS or Azure, including modern cloud architecture and AI integration capabilities.
• Experience with CI/CD, DevSecOps, Kubernetes, containers, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience developing enterprise SaaS products, preferably within the Salesforce ecosystem.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving complex technical and production issues, mentoring senior engineers, and leading technical initiatives across teams.
• Contributions to open source projects, technical publications, patents, or other demonstrated technical leadership; excellent communication and the ability to influence decisions without direct authority.
• Ability to collaborate with globally distributed engineering teams while working remotely within the United States and eligibility to work in the US.
