What you will do

• Develop and productionize ML and statistical algorithms for energy optimization across devices like thermostats, batteries, and EVs.
• Analyze datasets on energy consumption, user interactions, grid emissions, weather, and markets to guide product and algorithm design.
• Own software architecture for the algorithms team and participate in Energy Intelligence system design.
• Lead quarter-long projects, clarify ambiguous problems, and shape feasible solutions.
• Collaborate with Product, Design/UX, Operations, and Engineering to deliver impactful features.
• Uphold code quality, testing, security, observability, and foster efficient engineering culture.

Requirements

• Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Bachelor's or Master’s in Computer Science or non-CS STEM.
• 4-8+ years software development experience; 2+ years production ML/algorithms.
• Proficiency in Python and strong SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, Redshift).
• Experience with full software lifecycle, statistics, problem-solving, and ambiguity navigation.
• Energy industry knowledge, building energy physics, or smart energy devices experience.
