TL;DR

Mid-Market Account Executive, SLED (AI, Cybersecurity): Selling security solutions to State, Local, and Education (SLED) agencies with an accent on new annual recurring revenue quota attainment and pipeline generation. Focus on navigating complex public sector buying processes, building ROI-driven business cases, and leveraging internal teams for successful deals.

Location: Remote (USA). Preference for candidates located in the Chicagoland area or Minnesota.

Salary: $85,000–$100,000 USD

What you will do

  • Sell Abnormal security solutions to SLED agencies to overachieve new annual recurring revenue quota.
  • Manage accounts from initial conversations through contract signing and up-selling.
  • Prospect and generate new business opportunities to maintain a strong sales pipeline.
  • Collaborate with Customer Success to ensure timely renewals and expansion sales.
  • Document results and maintain accurate data across all sales systems (Salesforce, Highspot, Close Plan).
  • Act as a voice for the customer with internal teams to ensure appropriate prioritization for closing revenue.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated 2+ years of direct sales experience prospecting and closing SLED accounts.
  • Proven track record of success closing new account logos, cross-selling, and upselling.
  • Skill in negotiating with large organizations and closing complex sales.
  • Consistent over-quota performance and/or top 5% ranking in sales organizations.
  • Technically competent in security, email, cloud, and AI.
  • Experience selling subscription software/SaaS to CISOs and security personnel.
  • Success at an early-stage company or as a new entrant with large competitors.
