IT Project Manager (DoD)

Location: Hampton, Virginia, United States, at Joint Base Langley-Eustis; fully onsite.

Salary: $115,000–$130,000 annually.

What you will do

• Manage projects through design, implementation, testing, deployment, and sustainment.
• Define requirements, estimate work, and plan project lifecycle activities.
• Coordinate vendor tasks, review deliverables, and ensure adherence to quality standards.
• Maintain project charters, plans, briefings, risk registers, change requests, and executive status reports.
• Monitor baselines, risks, issues, and dependencies across multiple enterprise workstreams.
• Coordinate technical teams and leadership, conduct project meetings, and translate technical considerations into operational impacts.

Requirements

• High school education with 6–9 years of experience, or commensurate experience.
• Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance.
• Experience managing multiple complex technical projects and creating or managing enterprise implementation plans for large technical deployments.
• Experience planning and estimating work requirements, with familiarity with DoD lifecycle processes, requirements management frameworks, and enterprise architecture principles.
• Strong understanding of enterprise networks, service integration, incident and service management, and secure IT operations.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
• Proficiency with project management tools such as MS Project, Jira, Azure DevOps, and Confluence.
• DoD 8140 IAT II certification, including Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CySA+, or CND.
• Experience with agile or other project management methodologies, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to select technically feasible solutions that meet customer requirements.
• Collaborative, proactive, flexible, and adaptable approach to evolving project requirements.

Nice to have

• Technical background in networking and systems.
• PMP, Agile, or PMI-ACP certification.
• Experience with large-scale modernization efforts or cloud transition planning.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity requirements, RMF processes, and DoD architecture frameworks.
• Experience working directly with PMOs or leading cross-functional technical teams.
• Experience supporting highly regulated or classified environments such as AFSCI.
• Experience with enterprise technical integration, transition planning, or large-scale modernization programs.
• Experience with DoD networks including NIPR, SIPR, and JWICS.
