Software Engineer 3 (AI Assisted Developer Tooling)

Location: Onsite in Columbia, Maryland; applicants must reside in the United States at the time of application.

Salary: $151,745–$303,490 per year

What you will do

• Design and implement AI-assisted IDE and developer tooling capabilities.
• Integrate agent-based systems for code reviews, unit test generation, and code quality analysis.
• Experiment with autonomous and semi-autonomous agents for software development workflows.
• Integrate tools into existing development platforms and pipelines.
• Collaborate with customers and teammates to gather feedback and improve solutions.
• Measure and document tooling effectiveness.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph required.
• 12 years of experience with a B.S. in a technical discipline, or 16 years of experience without a degree.
• Strong software engineering skills in one or more modern programming languages.
• Proficiency in Python and Java.
• Experience with IDEs, developer tools, or build and test systems.
• Hands-on experience with AI- or LLM-powered developer tools, including chat-based interfaces or automated coding agents.

Nice to have

• Experience with automated code review or static analysis tools.
• Knowledge of agentic AI frameworks or orchestration systems.
• Experience with developer platforms or internal engineering enablement teams.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Experience developing VS Code extensions with TypeScript and Electron.
