TL;DR

Digital Matte Painting Artist (VFX): Combine photographic, paint, and 3D assets to create concepts and design environments using techniques such as camera animation, image projection, layering, and lighting with an accent on 2.5D environments in Houdini. Focus on high-end episodic VFX, 2.5D projections in Nuke, and collaborating with VFX supervisors and lead matte painter.

Must be located in and reside in British Columbia, Canada. Remote (work from home) within BC or in studio in Vancouver. Zoic does not cover relocation costs.

What you will do

• Create 2D, 2.5D, and 3D elements of environment shots
• Combine photographic, paint, and 3D assets to develop concepts and design environments
• Apply techniques like camera animation, image projection, layering, and lighting
• Provide and acquire photographic and other reference materials
• Collaborate with VFX supervisors and lead matte painter in a small digital matte painting department

Requirements

• Must reside in British Columbia, Canada
• Extensive experience creating 2.5D environments in Houdini
• Extensive use and knowledge of Photoshop
• Strong knowledge of 3D animation programs such as Maya
• Strong knowledge of Nuke (both 2D and 3D)
• Strong knowledge of Houdini; good knowledge of lighting, rendering, and compositing process
• Experience working in high-end episodic VFX and knowledge of 2.5D projections
