TL;DR

Location: Full time remote position on a globally distributed team

hirify.global is a game development studio creating immersive underwater experiences, including the Subnautica series.

What you will do

  • Create, implement, and iterate on real-time visual effects for environments, creatures, tools, vehicles, cutscenes, and UI.
  • Take ownership of VFX for key gameplay systems to ensure visual clarity and emotional impact.
  • Collaborate with Design, Engineering, and Art disciplines to reinforce the overall player experience.
  • Profile and optimize effects within performance budgets across all target platforms.
  • Contribute to the improvement of VFX workflows, pipelines, and technical documentation.
  • Provide constructive feedback and share knowledge with other VFX artists to maintain a high craft bar.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a VFX artist in the games industry with at least one shipped title.
  • Proficiency in Unreal Engine 5, specifically using Niagara and Blueprints.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating diverse real-time VFX (environments, characters, screen FX, etc.).
  • Expertise in shader/material authoring and real-time particle systems.
  • Skill in 2D and 3D tools including Blender, Photoshop, Substance Designer, After Effects, and Houdini.
  • Solid understanding of real-time rendering principles, technical art, and performance optimization.

Nice to have

  • Experience working on live development or Early Access titles.
  • Experience building reusable or systemic VFX frameworks.
  • Expertise in creating water-based or underwater effects.
  • Passion for survival-crafting and open-world games.
