TL;DR

Engineering Lead: Leading and coaching teams of software, DevOps, and QA engineers with a focus on Route to Live solutions and transitioning to new Cloud technologies, with an accent on process improvement, technical guidance, and leadership development. Focus on shaping roadmaps, coordinating plans, and continuously improving engineering processes while mentoring engineers.

Location: Hybrid, requiring at least two days per week at the Halifax office.

Salary: £92,701–£109,060

What you will do

  • Coach and enable teams to improve processes, solve problems, and embed quality standards.
  • Lead multi-delivery of change, shaping roadmaps and coordinating plans and resourcing.
  • Provide leadership across internal feature teams, clarifying engineering principles and encouraging collaboration.
  • Mentor and develop engineers, fostering learning and advancement.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to align engineering work with business outcomes and decisions.
  • Track progress and manage risk, identifying issues early and agreeing on practical mitigation.
  • Contribute to financial and workforce planning, including recruitment and partner engagement.
  • Continuously improve engineering processes, standards, and tools to boost quality and productivity.

Requirements

  • Experience providing leadership and influencing engineering direction across teams.
  • A technical understanding/background (formal or non-traditional).
  • Awareness of cloud practices and strategies.
  • Team leadership experience, including mentoring, developing, and supporting colleagues.
  • A track record of delivering transformation and continuous improvement.
  • Logical and creative thinking, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusted relationships.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively, taking ownership and following through.
  • Must be able to work from the Halifax office at least two days per week.
