What you will do
- Own and run the full programme plan for direct FPS participation, from requirements to go-live.
- Coordinate all work streams, including technical connectivity, gateway configuration, and settlement access.
- Manage risks and dependencies across engineering, treasury, compliance, and external partners.
- Drive the Pay.UK assurance process, testing, and scheme certification.
- Communicate progress and milestones to internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure programme governance, budget management, and timely handover to BAU operations.
Requirements
- Experience managing payment scheme participation (FPS, Bacs, CHAPS or similar) or comparable regulatory infrastructure projects in UK banking.
- Proven track record delivering complex technical programmes across engineering, operations, treasury, and compliance.
- Direct experience working with scheme bodies such as Pay.UK, Vocalink, or the Bank of England.
- Ability to lead delivery in a small team/firm, being both strategic and hands-on.
- Strong capabilities in resource planning, time management, risk management, and clear communication.
- Comfortable with remote collaboration tools and a strong aptitude for written communication.
Nice to have
- FPS direct membership implementation experience.
- Involvement in setting up Bank of England Reserve or Settlement Accounts.
- Familiarity with the FCA and PRA.
- Experience with Form3 or similar payment gateway provider.
- Experience with sort code management and allocation.
