Lead Interaction Designer (Product Design)

Lead Interaction Designer (Product Design): Assuring the successful design and delivery of public services through a design-led approach and technology-enabled critical services with an accent on coaching and mentoring other designers, leading design processes, and communicating design decisions to teams and stakeholders. Focus on creating shared understanding of problems, ensuring public services are simple to explain, understand, and use, and contributing to the growth and happiness of the UCD community.

Location: Hybrid (part-time remote working), UK-based (SC clearance required)

What you will do

• Design and deliver public services hands-on, ensuring success through technology.
• Act as a subject matter expert, facilitating design processes and communicating decisions to stakeholders.
• Lead the Service and Interaction Design community, developing and sharing good practices.
• Support team retention, hiring, and quality through mentoring and coaching.
• Define 'good' design, create shared understanding of problems, and simplify public services.
• Build client relationships and support commercial efforts related to User-Centred Design.

Requirements

• Expert practitioner in UX, Interaction, and Product Design.
• Expert in leading design tools (e.g., Figma, prototyping kit).
• Able to coach, mentor, define design standards, and influence clients and the organization.
• Proactive, accountable, and comfortable owning problems through to resolution.
• Collaborative, defining 'good' design and supporting client collaboration.
• Required to undertake SC clearance (UK residency implied).
