Principal Product Manager (AI, Search)

Principal Product Manager (AI, Search): Define long-term vision and strategy for GenAI in Search to address users’ unmet needs and business priorities with an accent on collaborating with Research, Engineering, Product Marketing, and Design Teams. Focus on shaping and building the next wave of capabilities to Search and making a significant impact on how people interact with Search.

Location: Mountain View, United States. Employees within a 50-mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. are expected to work from the office at least four days per week.

Salary: USD $163,000 – $296,400 per year (U.S. typical base) or USD $220,800 – $331,200 per year (San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area).

What you will do

• Identify customer unmet needs and market opportunities through quantitative and qualitative analyses.
• Define the long-term vision and strategy for modeling and quality roadmaps based on customer needs, market research, and Microsoft’s AI business goals.
• Create user stories and epics to convey the big picture and design integrated scenarios.
• Partner with UX, Design, Research, Software Engineering, and Hardware Engineering teams to connect factors to desired functionality.
• Collaborate with Product Marketing, Business Planning, Engineering, and the field to identify product release criteria and customer acquisition strategies.
• Partner with and influence VPs and CVPs to collect performance metrics and derive insights for product improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree AND 10+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development, OR equivalent experience.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including passing the Microsoft Cloud background check.
• Must be based in the U.S. and commute to a designated Microsoft office at least four days per week if living within a 50-mile radius.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s Degree AND 15+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development, OR equivalent experience.
• Experience working with Search or Recommendation systems.
• Large language model development, including data collection and pre/post-training, and inference.
