What you will do

• Architect and build new features and services across our microservice architecture using modern technology.
• Write thoughtful and quality code that is readable, testable, and easily maintainable.
• Create data-driven and stable APIs for mobile applications to consume.
• Strive for excellent development practices and careful code architecture that supports rapid releases.
• Work cross-functionally with mobile and backend engineers, and product teams to release high-quality, customer-focused features.
• Adhere to, and improve upon, our agile process through requirement documents, sprint retrospectives, and other regular cadence meetings.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience building backend services, with 2+ years in a technical leadership capacity (mentoring junior engineers, scoping technical projects).
• Experience with Microservice or Service-oriented Architectures.
• Strong experience building within the Node.js ecosystem.
• Experience using gRPC, protobuf, or GraphQL.
• Experience managing AWS environments.
• Experience with relational databases, message queues, or event streams.

Nice to have

• Experience in the financial and rewards tech industry.
• Experience proactively working with modern AI-enhanced development tools (e.g., Cursor, Windsurf, Cody, etc.) and a curiosity for emerging AI workflows.
