Location: Hybrid in San Mateo, CA. Collaborate with global teams across San Mateo, Tokyo, London, and more.

Salary: $246,600—$369,800 USD

What you will do

  • Lead and grow client engineering teams, delivering on roadmaps for user delight, modularity, and multi-platform architecture across consoles, clients, and the cloud.
  • Define the North Star platform architecture, set Performance and Reliability KPIs, and manage Release Engineering.
  • Build and lead high-impact teams, fostering technical excellence, inclusivity, and innovation through hiring, coaching, and career pathing.
  • Collaborate with global teams (San Mateo, Tokyo, London) to drive consistent platform service adoption and integration.
  • Translate strategic priorities into executable technical roadmaps that advance the PlayStation ecosystem.
  • Drive continuous improvement in developer tooling, CI/CD pipelines, service performance, and observability.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of overall software engineering experience, with 5+ years in client/mobile/web engineering leadership and 2+ years managing managers and senior/staff ICs.
  • Proven track record shipping large-scale native and/or complex web apps with strict performance, reliability, and privacy requirements.
  • Strong technical background in building and shipping mobile and desktop applications.
  • Experience with React Native and Native mobile technologies (iOS/iPadOS), with broader familiarity with desktop architecture (Windows and MacOS).
  • Demonstrated success in recruiting, scaling, and retaining engineering talent, including coaching and mentoring engineers.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions.

Nice to have

  • Depth in at least two of: Swift/Kotlin, TypeScript/React language stacks.
  • Familiarity with iOS/Android or MacOS/Windows OS platforms.
  • Knowledge of GraphQL, including schema design and federation.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, service observability, and production incident management.
