What you will do
- Manage engineering pods, focusing on growth, development, performance, and retention.
- Act as a multiplier and unblocker, helping pods build new features end-to-end.
- Collaborate with Tech Leads and Product Managers on architecture, work breakdown, scheduling, and release planning.
- Communicate delivery progress to senior management.
- Mentor junior and mid/senior staff.
- Drive hiring and onboarding for new team members and contribute to interviewing processes.
Requirements
- Lead one or more teams as both a technical lead and people manager in an agile environment.
- System design experience with a focus on scalable and resilient solutions.
- Leadership skills balancing people management and technical excellence.
- Functional programming experience in Ruby, Python, or Javascript/Node.js.
- Experience with MVC frameworks (e.g., Rails, Django, Pyramid) and modern front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Vue.js).
- SQL database experience (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite).
- 3+ years in a manager role and 10+ years of hands-on development experience.
- Must be based in the U.S.
Nice to have
- Managed teams supporting tens of thousands of users, including enterprise customers.
- Deep expertise with Ruby/Ruby on Rails and automated testing.
- Experience with deployments to Heroku, AWS, or similar.
- Operations experience related to site reliability/speed.
- Familiarity with networking, caching, database, and performance triage.
- Experience with fundraising/crowdfunding or fintech/payments technology products.
