Distinguished Engineer - Hyperscalers

Location: San Jose, California, United States. Hybrid working environment with some level of in-office and/or in-person expectations.

Salary: $285,000–$355,000 per year, with the final package determined by location, qualifications, experience, and education.

What you will do

• Lead architecture, implementation, and delivery of complex cross-cutting challenges across the Cloud business unit.
• Design and build scalable, fault-tolerant, highly available, and low-latency cloud control-plane architectures.
• Architect modern CI/CD infrastructure and automated deployment pipelines supporting several hundred developers.
• Design cloud-native QA frameworks and components, promoting strong engineering, quality, and operational practices.
• Collaborate with technical leaders, engineers, customers, and stakeholders to balance technical and product objectives.
• Coach senior and principal engineers, contribute hands-on source code and technical artifacts, and develop intellectual property through patents.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years as a hands-on Senior Principal Engineer leading multiple engineering teams.
• Expertise in performance, scalability, enterprise architecture, distributed systems, service-oriented architecture, and engineering best practices.
• Extensive experience building and operating high-scale, fault-tolerant cloud-native systems on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks, monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, or Elastic, and reliable software operations.
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language, such as Java, TypeScript, Python, or Ruby.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience; storage architecture experience is beneficial but not mandatory.
