Location: While this is a remote company, hirify.global is prioritizing candidates in Austin, Texas, as there are ad-hoc and recurring leadership meetings that occur in person. Due to ITAR compliance and regulations, this role is only open to US Citizens and Green Card Holders.

What you will do

• Provide technical and non-technical leadership, including career development and performance evaluations, to a team of 5-8 engineers.
• Collaborate with other Directors to create new processes, implement engineering methodologies, and define fiscal year budgets.
• Act as a cultural steward, promoting team growth, innovation, and fostering a scalable engineering organization.
• Manage technical risks across projects and internal initiatives, ensuring smooth execution.
• Communicate technical decisions to stakeholders, resolve blocking issues, and keep the engineering team operating smoothly.
• Assist with resource planning, hiring, project staffing, and serve as the technical authority on client engagements.

Requirements

• Extensive hands-on experience building and deploying production AI/ML solutions (traditional and modern), with expertise in technologies like natural language and computer vision, object-oriented design, containers, and cloud infrastructure.
• Demonstrated ability in mentorship, management, and leading the growth of engineering teams building AI/ML systems, embodying servant leadership.
• A growth mindset and insatiable curiosity around AI and AI-related technologies.
• A strong cultural steward, prioritizing psychologically safe and team-first environments, and responsible AI usage.
• Excellent communication skills for conveying complex systems to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder due to ITAR compliance and regulations.
