Engineering Manager

Location: France or London; hybrid workplace with a remote-friendly environment.

What you will do

• Contribute to production software engineering by translating functional requirements into elegant, simple designs and delivering reliable code.
• Understand product and customer needs in detail and propose ideas that create value for end users.
• Coach up to six direct reports, typically in one-to-one meetings every two weeks.
• Define expectations, collect and deliver feedback, and create career development plans using the engineering skill-leveling matrix.
• Participate in performance decisions with other managers, including salary-raise calibration and underperformance remediation.
• Optionally lead engineering-structure projects such as technical demos, All Hands sessions, or updates to the skill-leveling matrix.

Requirements

• Senior-level software engineering experience on a product in production, typically 7–8 years for engineering managers.
• At least 2–3 years of experience managing people.
• Proven experience designing object-oriented software with languages such as C#, Java, C++, Golang, Rust, Python, or Ruby.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative team-oriented approach.
• Fluent English; French is not required.
• Ability to work in a hybrid setup in France or London.
