Engineering Manager (AI)

Location: London; in-person work five days per week at the Old Street office. Relocation assistance is available for candidates moving to London.

What you will do

• Support engineers through regular 1:1s, actionable feedback, career development, and performance guidance.
• Own squad momentum and delivery rhythm in collaboration with product and design.
• Break down projects, manage trade-offs, remove bottlenecks, and keep shipping cycles fast and predictable.
• Introduce pragmatic processes that keep teams aligned and unblocked without unnecessary bureaucracy.
• Build a culture of accountability, trust, autonomy, craftsmanship, and ownership.
• Partner with Talent and Leadership to recruit, interview, and onboard engineering talent.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience managing engineering teams in fast-moving product startups or technology companies.
• Strong execution skills, including feature scoping, bottleneck identification, and delivery management.
• People-first approach with a focus on coaching, active listening, and engineer empowerment.
• Software engineering background or a strong technical foundation for understanding architecture and technical trade-offs.
• Comfort working with ambiguity, operational responsibilities, and changing product priorities.
• Ability to work in person in London five days per week.
