Engineering Manager (E-commerce)

Location: 100% remote; work from home

Salary: £100,000–£120,000 per annum, depending on experience

What you will do

• Manage and provide structure, purpose, and guidance to the software engineering team.
• Accelerate product development by improving processes, introducing best practices, and applying agile methodologies.
• Monitor performance metrics, remove delivery roadblocks, and maintain smooth workflows.
• Oversee project planning, testing, deployment, post-deployment activities, and release management.
• Maintain code quality, consistency, and effective documentation while contributing to technology roadmap decisions.
• Recruit engineering talent, navigate conflicts, and respond quickly to issues during peak season.

Requirements

• 5–7 years of experience in software development and team management.
• At least 7 years of experience with Python and strong knowledge of JavaScript, Vue.js, and related technologies.
• Extensive experience developing, deploying, and integrating software solutions.
• Experience reporting to founders or senior leadership, preferably in a small, high-growth scale-up.
• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, information systems, information technology, or a related field.
• Experience with process documentation, performance monitoring, and software development best practices.

Nice to have

• Experience in e-commerce, online marketplaces, or online travel businesses.
• Experience working with Kubernetes, Django, Celery, PostgreSQL, Redis, Solr, Memcached, Nginx, Varnish, Cloudflare, or GitLab.
