Engineering Manager II (AI)

Base salary: £101,600–£152,400 per year

What you will do

• Lead a cross-functional team of engineers, a designer, and data scientists building payment intelligence products.
• Own the quality, delivery, operation, and success measurement of products that predict payment failures, recover funds, and protect merchant cash flow.
• Work with the team and Product Manager to identify problems, define priorities, and decide what to build next.
• Deliver projects ranging from MVP experiments to new product features while managing stakeholder expectations.
• Hire, support, and develop engineers through regular 1:1s, feedback, and career development.
• Raise technical standards and ensure reliable, well-tested, operationally excellent systems.

Requirements

• Professional coding experience with Python and Ruby on Rails for backend development.
• Experience with JavaScript and React for frontend development.
• Ability to build reliable, well-tested systems and maintain high technical standards.
• Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience supporting and growing engineering teams and collaborating with Product, Design, Data Science, and commercial teams.
• High agency, ownership, adaptability, and enthusiasm for experimentation, testing, and learning.
