Staff Software Engineer (Apache Druid)

Location: Remote, based in Burlingame, California, United States

Salary: $185,000–$225,000 per year, plus eligibility for the equity plan

hirify.global builds Apache Druid-based database and observability data products, including hirify.global Lumi, a high-performance data layer for observability and security data.

What you will do

• Implement and maintain microservices and backend components in modern Java.
• Develop state-of-the-art features within Apache Druid.
• Lead the design and development of major features across teams.
• Collaborate with product management, UX design, frontend engineering, and backend engineering to deliver initiatives, features, and products.
• Participate in production on-call rotations for two weeks per cycle, approximately 4–6 times per year.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building and maintaining highly scalable and reliable services in Java or a similar language.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Helm, cloud providers such as AWS, or related technologies.
• Experience with relational and/or OLAP databases.
• Experience with agile methodologies.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Apache Druid.
• Open-source contributions to Apache Druid or another open-source database.
• Experience with streaming technologies such as Apache Kafka and Apache Flink.
