Senior Backend Engineer

Location: Vilnius, Lithuania; hybrid work with 3 days per week in the office

Salary: €6,500–€10,000 gross per month, depending on skills and experience

What you will do

• Build distributed backend systems that remain fast, available and scalable under high real-time demand.
• Develop data-driven health insights and privacy-first features for millions of users.
• Design APIs, databases and backend platforms that support reliable product development.
• Build tooling and infrastructure that help engineering teams move faster.
• Own outcomes, solve complex technical problems and consider end-user impact.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience building distributed backend systems.
• Professional fluency in Java, Scala, Python or a similar language, with willingness to learn Scala.
• Experience making systems fast, reliable and secure.
• Understanding of DevOps, SQL and NoSQL databases, API design, clean code and version control.
• Ownership, initiative, continuous learning and a product-minded approach.
• Ability to work in a hybrid model from the Vilnius office 3 days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience with stream processing.
• Experience with public cloud infrastructure such as AWS or GCP.
