Principal Engineer (AI)

Location: Berlin, Germany; hybrid work with at least three days per week in the office

What you will do

• Lead the definition and execution of strategic initiatives across the engineering organization.
• Build and evolve both back-end and front-end systems serving customer support products.
• Contribute to software development from ideation and prototyping through design and implementation.
• Shape technical architecture with a focus on scalability, availability, performance, and operational excellence.
• Assess project progress, risks, and challenges to support resource allocation and prioritization.
• Hire, mentor, and support the career development of engineers while partnering with engineering, product, design, research, and data teams.

Requirements

• Significant demonstrated impact on products or engineering teams.
• Deep knowledge of a high-level programming language such as Ruby, Python, or Perl.
• Experience with distributed systems.
• At least 2 years of experience as the primary technical leader for a team.
• Experience collaborating with technical leaders, product teams, and designers, with a track record of delivering value to customers or users.
• Ability to work from Berlin in a hybrid arrangement, including at least three office days per week.

Nice to have

• Previous experience building a SaaS product.
