Senior Applied AI Engineer

Location: Berlin, Germany. Hybrid setup with 3 days per week in the office and up to 6 remote calendar weeks per year.

What you will do

• Design, build, deploy, and own AI agents that automate fund-operations workflows involving documents, deadlines, and financial data.
• Build evaluation systems using real documents, expected outputs, regression suites, human review, and measurable criteria for end-to-end agent performance.
• Own AI application architecture, including orchestration, multi-agent design, tool contracts, memory, RAG, MCP, context engineering, guardrails, approvals, and human-in-the-loop controls.
• Operate production AI systems with versioned rollouts, feature flags, rate limits, provider fallback, regional failover, and failure-trace observability.
• Review and launch the MCP offering for initial customers, and establish shared observability for token usage, cost, latency, failures, and retries.
• Publish reusable agent patterns and mentor engineers across teams in agent and LLM practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of production software engineering experience, including end-to-end ownership of at least one live agent or LLM-powered capability.
• Strong experience with agent orchestration and context engineering, including tool contracts, memory, RAG, and multi-agent design using Mastra, ai-sdk, LangGraph, or similar technologies.
• Ability to make non-deterministic systems measurable through real-data test cases, regression suites, human review, and meaningful benchmarks.
• Production experience diagnosing traces and failure modes, and managing cost, latency, provider rate limits, and fallback mechanisms.
• Backend development experience with TypeScript and/or Python, together with a platform mindset focused on reusable standards for other engineers.
• Experience in fintech, private markets, regulated environments, document-heavy domains, or EU data-residency constraints is advantageous.

Hiring process

• People Team interview lasting 30 minutes.
• Hiring Manager interview lasting 60 minutes, followed by two 60-minute technical interviews.
• Final 45-minute interview with the CTO.
