Senior AI Engineer (AI)

Location: Mannheim, Germany; hybrid work with three days per week in the office

What you will do

• Design, build, and deploy AI agents and agentic systems for global SaaS products.
• Develop LLM-powered services and multi-agent architectures connecting models, tools, and data sources across complex workflows.
• Build, fine-tune, and deploy open-source LLMs and transformer-based models for intelligent search, entity resolution, information extraction, and document understanding.
• Design and operate RAG pipelines and AI services using structured and unstructured enterprise data.
• Own AI solutions end to end, from experimentation and model selection through deployment, monitoring, optimization, and production operation.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional experience in AI, machine learning, or AI engineering.
• Strong Python skills and experience building production-grade AI applications.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, transformer-based models, and ideally Hugging Face.
• Experience building AI agents or agentic workflows, with multi-agent systems valued highly.
• Experience with RAG, tool and function calling, structured outputs, and retrieval or search architectures.
• Experience deploying AI applications to production, including monitoring, scalability, and performance optimization.

Nice to have

• Experience fine-tuning or adapting LLMs and transformer models for specific domains or tasks.
• Experience self-hosting open-source models and working with GPU-based inference infrastructure.
• Experience with multilingual NLP, large-scale document processing, or enterprise, supply-chain, ESG, and compliance data.
