Senior R&D Engineer (DevOps)

TL;DR

Senior R&D Engineer (DevOps): Collaborates with QA and Development teams to produce, extend, and maintain a next-generation cloud simulation platform, applying industry best practices to meet customer requirements and company standards. Focus on cloud microservices software development, DevOps-centric automation, and resolving production incidents.

Location: This role can be done 100% remotely from any location within Canada.

What you will do

• Participate in planning, architecture, and research for cloud simulation platforms.
• Perform complex development activities, including cloud software/service deployment and distributed system maintenance/scaling.
• Investigate problems discovered by QA or product support and develop solutions.
• Use modern cloud automation best practices and tooling.
• Perform root cause investigation, automated deployment testing, and production incident solving.
• Participate with on call rotation as alerts arise.

Requirements

• BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 5 years’ experience, MS with 3 years’ experience, or PhD with 1 year experience.
• Commercial experience with software design and development methodologies.
• Experience with CICD development, including *nix development environments.
• Experience with container image definition and deployments.
• Proficiency in Python and/or Bash scripting.
• Experience with at least 1 CICD tool's pipeline definition as code and at least 1 Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tooling ecosystem.

Nice to have

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commercial experience with Java, Python and/or Go.
• Experience with frameworks like Springboot or Fast Api.
• Experience with one or more industry standard Cloud Service Providers, including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Experience with Kubernetes and commercial public cloud services deployments.
