What you will do
- Shape the technical architecture of shared components supporting app-native user journeys and digital credentials.
- Guide engineering teams through technical design authority and governance forums.
- Advise on DevOps tooling best practices and review implementation with engineers.
- Work across AWS, GCP and Azure in a multi-department environment.
- Produce high-level designs, low-level designs and technology stack definitions.
- Work within strategic and enterprise architecture constraints and engage the wider architecture community when exceptions are needed.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience, including proven experience as a Technical or Solution Architect on large-scale digital services.
- Hands-on knowledge of at least one major cloud platform—AWS, GCP or Azure—with exposure to the others.
- Strong understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD and modern engineering tooling.
- Experience producing HLDs, LLDs and architecture decision records.
- Confidence presenting designs and trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences through governance boards.
- Experience working in a multi-team or multi-organisation environment.
Nice to have
- Experience with mobile app architecture, digital identity or credential services.
- UK public sector experience and familiarity with the GDS Service Standard and Technology Code of Practice.
