Head of Solution Architecture (Cloud & AI)

Location: Bristol, London, or Edinburgh, United Kingdom; hybrid with a minimum of three office days per week

What you will do

• Lead and develop a small team of Solution Architects supporting technology delivery teams with architecture services and system design.
• Shape solution architecture across complex, business-critical initiatives from concept through delivery.
• Manage the architecture resource pool, work assignments, stakeholder expectations, and initiative timeframes.
• Provide architecture support for technology and business change, escalating architecture issues and design blockers.
• Operate architecture governance processes, chair technology design authorities, and manage related controls.
• Collaborate with engineering, domain architecture, security, and business teams on standards, transformation planning, and global governance.

Requirements

• Experience in solution architecture, including designing and delivering complex, scalable technology solutions within large organisations.
• Experience leading a Solution Architecture team and developing architectural capability.
• Expertise in solution design, architecture governance, and design authority processes.
• Experience in cloud, hybrid cloud, and infrastructure-focused architecture functions.
• Experience delivering complex enterprise-scale technology solutions and strategic transformation programmes.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, documentation, and presentation skills, including the ability to explain and justify architectural decisions to senior leaders.
• Experience working across engineering, development, security, and business functions in high-performing, dynamic environments.
• Experience working in global organisations with stakeholders across multiple regions and cultures.

Nice to have

• Experience with Azure, artificial intelligence platforms, DevOps practices, infrastructure as code, Microsoft 365, Nutanix Compute, Dell Enterprise Storage, Cisco or Juniper networking, Red Hat Linux and OpenShift, and Wintel technology stacks.
• Experience in financial services, markets, share registry, transfer agency, or employee share plans.
