Project Planner Office of University Architect

Location: College Station, Texas, United States; full-time staff position.

Salary: Commensurate with the selected hire’s experience.

Texas A&M University’s Office of the University Architect plans and supports university campus construction, renovation, space planning, standards, and capital projects.

What you will do

• Assist with planning renovation and new construction projects, including scope, siting, schedules, preliminary budgets, and conceptual space plans.
• Develop Programs of Requirements and coordinate related meetings, workshops, documentation, schedules, and stakeholder communication.
• Prepare planning data, drawings, maps, reports, presentations, and project compliance tracking materials.
• Coordinate and review consultant work supporting programming and planning documents.
• Verify projects comply with TAMU Design Guidelines and Standards, the Campus Master Plan, and approved Programs of Requirements.
• Research construction cost standards and support updates to campus interior space, furniture, signage, and sustainable design standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture or a closely related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Six years of experience in project planning, Program of Requirements development, space planning, and knowledge of interior finishes.
• Knowledge of higher-education planning and programmatic or architectural planning principles and practices.
• Experience planning and designing construction projects, with knowledge of local, state, and national building codes and regulations.
• Working experience with Microsoft Office, Excel, and AutoCAD.
• Strong written and oral communication, presentation, project management, organizational, time-management, and multitasking skills.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision and collaborate with stakeholders, consultants, users, and professional colleagues.
• Ability to lead and work in teams and communicate complex planning concepts in written, oral, and graphic form.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in architecture.
• Licensed Architect credential.
• Experience with university or higher-education facility types and with project planning, space planning, and programming.
• Experience and ability to work with Adobe Creative Suite and SketchUp.
