Associate Project Manager, Engineering Technology (Structural Engineering)

Location: Remote within the United States; domestic and international travel up to 10% required. Relocation is not available.

Salary: $66,600–$106,600 per year

What you will do

• Develop, document, and maintain requirements and specifications for wood-truss design and manufacturing applications.
• Translate structural engineering principles, building codes, industry standards, and truss-design practices into software requirements.
• Support engineering calculations, design logic, load applications, member and connection design, structural validation, and code-compliance evaluation.
• Investigate technical issues and recommend corrections or enhancements based on engineering analysis.
• Collaborate with structural engineering, product management, software development, UX, QA, sales, and field teams throughout the product lifecycle.
• Create technical documentation, provide training, monitor changes in codes and standards, and support complex truss-design questions.

Requirements

• B.S. degree in civil, structural, architectural engineering, or a related discipline from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
• Current Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility to sit for the PE exam within one year of employment.
• Minimum two years of relevant professional experience.
• Experience or a strong technical foundation in wood truss design and construction, with knowledge of wood design principles, load paths, structural analysis, and applicable building codes.
• Ability to interpret engineering codes and standards and translate them into requirements, specifications, calculations, and validation criteria.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and attention-to-detail skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to engineering and non-engineering stakeholders.
• Experience using truss-design software or other structural engineering applications and working with cross-functional teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with residential construction, component manufacturing, or a related structural engineering field.
• Familiarity with TPI or TPIC standards and their application to truss design and manufacturing.
• Experience with both United States and Canadian building codes.
• Direct experience in a truss fabrication facility.
