Finance Analyst (FP&A)

What you will do

• Develop and maintain complex financial models for strategic decision-making, investment planning, and long-term programme delivery.
• Produce integrated profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow forecasts, including scenario and sensitivity analysis.
• Conduct investment appraisals using NPV and IRR analysis and analyse programme expenditure, budgets, forecasts, and performance metrics.
• Coordinate budgeting, long-range planning, driver-based forecasting, and financial scrutiny.
• Partner with senior programme leaders, translate complex financial information into clear recommendations, and support financial strategy for UKFE and STEP.
• Prepare management reports, presentations, and financial papers while supporting governance, public sector reporting, transparency, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Relevant accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, or CIMA, or a degree in Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative subject.
• At least 2 years of experience in a dedicated FP&A, Commercial Finance, or Strategy role.
• Exceptional Excel or similar-tool financial modelling skills, including building robust, dynamic, and complex models from scratch.
• Strong analytical capability, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
• Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to build credibility with non-financial colleagues and IPT leaders.
• Completion of an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including Disclosure & Barring Service checks, is required.

Nice to have

• Experience in a large-scale programme, infrastructure, or government environment.
• Familiarity with UK public sector financial standards and budgetary processes.
• Experience with Unit4, ThinkProject, Power BI, or equivalent finance and project management systems.
• Experience working in a matrix environment with multiple priorities and stakeholders.
