What you will do

• Own the infrastructure and platform engineering roadmap, standards, documentation, suppliers, and technical debt.
• Design, build, and improve secure, scalable cloud infrastructure supporting AI initiatives, agentic systems, and business growth.
• Own production reliability, observability, monitoring, alerting, incident response, post-incident improvements, and sustainable escalation practices.
• Strengthen infrastructure security through access controls, patching, vulnerability remediation, secrets management, encryption, network controls, and risk management.
• Implement and test disaster recovery, backups, restoration, failover, recovery objectives, and business continuity runbooks.
• Drive Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, automation, developer tooling, cloud cost control, capacity planning, and collaboration with Engineering, Product, Data, Commercial, and the CTO.

Requirements

• Significant hands-on experience in infrastructure, platform engineering, DevOps, or a similar role with ownership of production environments.
• Strong experience designing, operating, and improving cloud infrastructure within AWS and/or GCP, including highly available, reliable, resilient, and performant systems.
• Strong Infrastructure as Code skills, ideally with Terraform, SST, or an equivalent tool.
• Sound knowledge of networking, cloud architecture, identity and access management, and infrastructure security.
• Real-world experience supporting AI infrastructure and agentic systems.
• Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, environment management, monitoring, logging, observability, and alerting.
• Experience leading incident response, investigating root causes, implementing backups, testing restoration, and developing disaster recovery procedures.
• Strong scripting and automation skills, plus experience monitoring cloud expenditure and delivering cost improvements.
• Ability to prioritise independently, communicate clearly, provide technical guidance, and work collaboratively.

Nice to have

• Experience in a marketplace, SaaS, e-commerce, or other transactional digital business.
• Experience supporting international platforms or geographically distributed teams.
• Experience with security assurance, audits, compliance programmes, database resilience, recovery, or performance.
• Experience improving infrastructure in a growing business with constrained resources and changing priorities.
• Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, containers, and container orchestration.
