AI Platform Engineer

What you will do

• Design, build and operate platform capabilities across a multi-cloud environment, including production-ready services, APIs, automation and platform components.
• Apply AI and agentic capabilities to platform operations, including provisioning, onboarding, access management, diagnosis, remediation and self-service.
• Build resilience, recovery, monitoring, alerting, telemetry and dashboards, and investigate operational issues to improve reliability and user experience.
• Develop reporting and analytics for platform usage, cost, performance, adoption, KPIs, OKRs and business outcomes.
• Help engineering, data and business teams move AI use cases into secure, reliable production environments through reusable patterns, documentation and enablement.
• Apply security, governance, privacy, risk, explainability, auditability and responsible AI controls throughout the platform lifecycle.

Requirements

• Demonstrable experience building and operating cloud-based platforms and services.
• Strong understanding of cloud fundamentals, including networking, identity and access management, security and operational controls.
• Strong software engineering or scripting capability with experience in production codebases.
• Experience with infrastructure as code, CI/CD, automated delivery, and cloud-native applications, APIs, services or platforms.
• Experience using logs, metrics, traces and telemetry to improve performance and reliability, and designing for resilience, scalability, observability and operability.
• Evidence of improving production-system dependability and delivering technology capabilities into production while supporting ongoing operation.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences and collaborate with engineering, data, security and business stakeholders.
• Interest in AI, automation and agentic systems, with sound judgement about where they add value.

Nice to have

• Experience building AI-powered applications, agents, copilots or intelligent automation.
• Experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation, prompt engineering, vector search or enterprise knowledge retrieval.
• Experience with major public cloud platforms and associated AI services.
• Experience with data platforms and governance concepts, including metadata, lineage, cataloguing and access control.
• Experience in regulated or controlled environments, MLOps, AI evaluation, monitoring and operational support of AI solutions.
• Knowledge of containerisation, orchestration, API-first architecture, responsible AI, model governance and AI safety controls.
