Senior I Engineer – Network Services Implementation & Remote Support (Networking)

Location: New York, NY, US; the role supports Medical Center remote sites and may require weekend work or staying late.

Salary: $84,577.92–$121,662.48 annually, excluding bonuses, differential pay, and other compensation or benefits.

What you will do

• Provide Level 2/3 troubleshooting, repair, escalation, and problem management for routers, switches, wireless networks, and communications hardware and software.
• Maintain documentation for enterprise data networks and support network Moves, Adds, and Changes.
• Perform routine maintenance, code upgrades, system monitoring, performance analysis, and utilization reporting.
• Support network project implementation and equipment installations in collaboration with peers and Network Architects.
• Coordinate network changes according to Change Management policies.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of experience and a BA/BS degree.
• Knowledge of networking systems and protocols, routing and switching, 802.11 wireless technologies, TCP/IP, WAN protocols, network management tools, cable specifications, and end-user infrastructure support.
• Knowledge of IP subnetting, addressing, and Variable Length Subnet Masks.
• Experience working with carriers and troubleshooting WAN circuits from serial T1 to Gigabit Metro Ethernet and fiber optic services.
• Strong knowledge of routing protocols including EIGRP, BGP, and OSPF, as well as Layer 2 protocols.
• Five years of experience with Cisco routers and switches, large multivendor end-user environments, and the listed Catalyst and Cisco router series.
• Strong verbal and written communication, analytical ability, decisiveness, judgment, time management, and technical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users, work with customers, IT management, staff, and vendors, prioritize multiple initiatives, meet service levels, and escalate issues appropriately.
• Ability to contribute individually with supervision and work effectively as part of an IT team.

Nice to have

• Experience with Cisco Nexus 7000, 5000, and 2000 series switches.
• Datacenter experience.
• Experience with Cisco IP Telephony, network security protocols, and firewalls.
• Experience in healthcare, education, or similarly complex organizations.
