Software Test Engineer (Embedded Software)

What you will do

• Develop test strategies, define test scopes, and estimate testing efforts with software, systems, and project stakeholders.
• Plan, execute, document, and report tests for embedded software and hardware-software integration.
• Integrate software with hardware protocols including I2C, UART, SPI, and USB, using scopes and logic analysers for debugging.
• Develop automated testing frameworks and scripts in Python and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines.
• Analyse results, identify software and hardware issues, and coordinate timely resolution with production, NPI, and customer support.
• Produce test plans, test cases, test results, and other project artifacts required for regulatory and organizational compliance.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience developing test cases for FPGA-based bare-metal embedded software and 5+ years developing hardware and software integration test cases.
• Strong ability to identify hardware faults through software, use logic analysers and scopes, and perform hardware-based debugging.
• Strong Python programming skills, including writing clear, maintainable, and efficient test automation code; experience with PyTest or similar Python test automation frameworks.
• Experience creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with tools such as Jenkins or GitLab CI.
• Solid understanding of unit, integration, and end-to-end testing methodologies.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills for both test code and the application under test.
• Linux as a basic working environment and ability to write shell scripts.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies and experience in an Agile development environment.
• Certifications in Python programming or software testing, such as ISTQB or Certified Agile Tester.
