Principal Application Engineer (Salesforce)

Location: Remote - US; remote employees must travel to in-office events in Mississauga and/or Salt Lake City for onboarding, team events, and semi-annual or annual meetings.

Salary: USD 179,300–224,100 per year

What you will do

• Serve as the subject matter expert for Salesforce, NetSuite, Billing Platform, and related enterprise applications.
• Design, develop, test, debug, monitor, and maintain complex production-grade applications, tools, integrations, and configurations using Apex, JavaScript, SuiteScript, Python, and connected applications.
• Translate strategic business objectives into scalable technical solutions, simplify solution architecture, modernize application architectures, improve integrations, and reduce technical debt.
• Build regression test automation suites, automate complex tasks, and guide test automation in Copado.
• Embed AI workflows and agents, champion AI and automation adoption, and optimize development and operational workflows.
• Lead root cause analysis, vendor delivery, peer reviews, technical knowledge sharing, engineering standards, and cross-functional DevOps standardization while mentoring engineers.

Requirements

• Principal-level mastery of application development from design and implementation through monitoring and operational best practices.
• Expertise in relevant core applications, especially Salesforce; ability to act as a subject matter expert and teach others.
• Experience delivering complex features, transformational initiatives, enhancements, and long-term system resilience improvements.
• Ability to collaborate with business stakeholders, vendors, senior leadership, and cross-functional teams to solve complex problems independently.
• Experience with production-grade code quality, validation and verification testing, test-driven practices, peer reviews, and technical mentoring.
• Ability to lead application modernization, system integration improvements, automation, technical debt reduction, and engineering best-practice adoption.
• Ability to work creatively, accountably, collaboratively, and effectively through ambiguity and complex situations.

Nice to have

• Solid experience working on a SaaS product and deep experience with SaaS product development or service-oriented architecture.
• Deep experience with Salesforce Lightning Design System or UI frameworks such as React, Vue, or Angular.
• Deep experience with AWS, Azure, or other cloud platforms.
• Experience with SAML, OAuth, and OpenID Connect authentication and authorization.
• Experience with SQL and on-call responsibilities for production-grade systems.
• Understanding of how to address team dysfunctions involving trust, conflict, commitment, accountability, and results.
