Junior Systems Engineer (Linux)

What you will do

• Manage incident and request queues, handle escalations, restore services, and meet SLA targets.
• Lead customer troubleshooting calls, coordinate with vendors, and provide status updates to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Evaluate alerts, investigate outages, identify event patterns, and create Problem tickets for root-cause analysis and proactive problem management.
• Respond to customer calls, emails, and tickets while managing case communications and escalations.
• Contribute to scripting, automation, SOP documentation, change control, and operational improvements.
• Participate in the Product Operations on-call rotation, mentor junior staff, and assist with onboarding and training.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year university in Information Systems, Computer Science, or Engineering preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2–5 years of relevant experience, including 3–5 years in Linux system administration and troubleshooting and 2–4 years in an operations-focused role.
• Currently holding RHCSA certification; RHCE is a plus.
• Actively pursuing or holding ITIL 4 Foundation certification.
• 2–3 years of scripting experience with Bash, Python, or similar languages.
• Strong knowledge of monitoring and ticketing platforms.
• Strong knowledge of Ansible, Git, or similar DevOps and automation tools.
• 2–3 years of experience with Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, Git, Grafana, and Splunk.
• Customer-focused communication, ownership of assigned work, adherence to procedures, and ability to collaborate and seek guidance when needed.
