Company

hirify.global helps enterprises and government organizations reduce software supply-chain risk through hardened container images, runtime-based attack surface reduction, and automated vulnerability remediation.

What you will do

  • Build, configure, administer, harden, patch, upgrade, and document Linux systems, including bare-metal servers, virtual machines, containers, storage, and hardware.
  • Design, operate, and troubleshoot routing, traffic shaping, firewalls, DHCP, DNS, WireGuard-based overlay networking, and connectivity between data centers, AWS, and remote staff.
  • Manage AWS resources, primarily EC2 and S3, and operate self-hosted GitLab, CI runners, build machines, and package mirrors.
  • Diagnose production issues across CPU, memory, storage, filesystems, system services, networking, and dependencies using logs, metrics, and command-line tools.
  • Lead incident response, improve monitoring and alerting, manage backups and restore testing, and complete corrective actions.
  • Automate operations with Bash, Python, Ansible, Git, GitLab CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code workflows.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of production Linux server administration with root responsibility, including physical hardware and recent hands-on operations and troubleshooting.
  • In-depth knowledge of Linux processes, services, permissions, package management, filesystems, logging, Debian and other distributions, UEFI, GRUB, initramfs, kernels, modules, DKMS, sysctl, cgroups v2, PSI, and systemd and sysvinit.
  • Strong networking experience across TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, subnetting, bridges, VLANs, bonding, NAT, policy routing, traffic shaping, nftables, iptables, DNS, DHCP, WireGuard, overlay networks, and packet capture analysis.
  • Deep ZFS experience plus mdadm RAID, LVM, ext4, XFS, SSD caching, filesystem repair, disk health, and storage recovery.
  • Experience with KVM/QEMU or Xen, LXC, Docker, Kubernetes troubleshooting, monitoring, backup, and recovery testing.
  • Hands-on AWS knowledge covering EC2, EBS, security groups, instance profiles, IMDSv2, S3 policies and lifecycle rules, encryption, and least-privilege IAM.
  • Expert Git and self-hosted GitLab administration, GitOps, infrastructure as code with OpenTofu or Terraform, and Ansible or a comparable configuration-management tool.
  • Strong security knowledge including host hardening, least privilege, SSH, SSH certificates, FIDO2 hardware keys, GPG, TLS, secrets, patching, vulnerability scanning, and supply-chain risk.
  • Expert Bash and good working Python skills for production systems automation, plus a record of resolving complex technical problems, managing change risk, and communicating clearly in written English.

Nice to have

  • Server hardware and BMC experience with IPMI, iDRAC, iLO, RAID/HBA controllers, firmware, PCIe devices, GPU servers, NVIDIA drivers, CUDA, or AI infrastructure.
  • Physical data-center work, remote-hands coordination, Proxmox or VMware, SAN/NAS, multipathing, monitoring and host intrusion detection tools.
  • Experience with Jenkins or build farms, package mirrors and proxies, restic, borg, ZFS replication, and infrastructure supporting SOC 2 or ISO 27001 controls.
  • Experience with other cloud providers such as Linode.

Culture & Benefits

  • Full-time individual-contributor role within Information Technology and Infrastructure Engineering.
  • Work independently within a remote team and collaborate with developers, IT, data-center staff, hardware vendors, and infrastructure stakeholders.
  • Participate in a shared on-call rotation and scheduled maintenance windows.
  • Compensation includes equity and benefits.
