Systems Engineer 1 - Linux/Bash/Python/STE/STN/Cisco/Docker

Location: Annapolis Junction, MD, United States. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and currently hold a Top Secret/SCI U.S. Government security clearance with a favorable Polygraph.

Annual salary: $130,000–$270,000, depending on years of experience.

What you will do

• Support a closed system spanning multiple locations across Capabilities and Operations.
• Collaborate closely with customer stakeholders.
• Administer Linux systems and use Linux command-line tools.
• Develop Bash and Python automation scripts for operational and maintenance tasks.
• Apply STE/STN security compliance requirements and ensure systems follow established policies.
• Configure Cisco switches, maintain containers, and create accurate technical documentation.

Requirements

• Seven years of systems engineering experience on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university; five additional years of systems engineering experience may substitute for the degree.
• Proficiency with the Linux CLI and Linux tools, plus demonstrated Linux systems administration experience.
• Experience developing Bash/Python automation scripts.
• Experience with the Agency’s STE/STN security compliance requirements and maintaining policy adherence.
• Familiarity with basic Cisco switch configuration and containerization technologies such as Docker and Podman.
• Experience creating, maintaining, and updating clear, accurate, and accessible technical documentation.
• U.S. citizenship, a current Top Secret/SCI U.S. Government security clearance, and a favorable Polygraph are required.

Nice to have

• Windows systems administration experience.
• Experience with NetApp storage devices.
• Experience with virtualization technologies including vSphere/vCenter.
• Experience with Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence.
