IT Engineer (Automation)

Location: US, Remote; fully remote, with up to 10% travel required. The company also has a Chicago office, but regular in-office presence applies only to some roles.

Base salary: $142,718–$161,904 annually, plus equity in the form of stock options.

hirify.global is a remote cybersecurity product company developing NodeZero, a platform for production-safe autonomous penetration testing and security assessments.

What you will do

• Own onboarding, termination, and device logistics automations end to end, including failure diagnosis, remediation, and ongoing reliability.
• Operate the IT Workato workspace, including recipes, connections, error handling, alerts, and partnered ownership hand-off.
• Build runbooks, monitoring, and failure-response processes for critical IT flows, maintaining at least 99% monthly reliability.
• Develop Okta, Rovo, and Jira workflows that remove manual IT process steps.
• Establish IT-as-code foundations using a repository, cloud-hosted internal tooling, Terraform, CI/CD, linters, Python, and Bash.
• Partner with Security Operations and Business Applications on access scoping, termination timing, cloud approvals, platform access, and limits; report reliability and failure causes to IT leadership.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience building and operating automations in Workato or a similar workflow/integration platform such as Zapier, Tines, or Okta Workflows.
• Experience writing Python to automate business or IT processes, including REST API calls; working knowledge of APIs, webhooks, and data mapping.
• Ability to implement error handling and alerts, identify root causes, and write runbooks that another engineer can use to operate and repair flows.
• 5+ years of experience in IT engineering, systems engineering, or automation engineering.
• Practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Experience supporting a distributed or remote-first workforce and owning automation platforms or critical workflows with little supervision.
• Required technology experience includes Workato or a comparable automation platform, Python or Bash, REST APIs and webhooks, and collaboration platforms such as Slack or Google Workspace.

Nice to have

• DevOps experience.
• Strong Okta administration, API, and Okta Workflows experience.
• Experience managing configuration, infrastructure, or identity as code with Terraform, CI/CD, and linters; comfort with Bash and Linux.
• Experience building Rovo or Jira workflows, or using Workato Genie or similar AI agent features for operational work.
• Experience automating onboarding, offboarding, or device lifecycle processes with demonstrated reliability results.
• Experience in a high-growth SaaS or cybersecurity company.
• Okta, Workato, or similar relevant certifications.
