Lead Systems Engineer

Salary: $256k–$280k per year, plus $64k–$70k in immediately vested company 401(k) contributions.

Location: US security-cleared role; applicants must already hold a TS/SCI clearance with a current Full Scope Polygraph before applying. Clearance sponsorship or processing is not available.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and direct two system administrators while collaborating with 25+ software engineers.
• Guide system architecture and setup across bare-metal, AWS, production, development, and staging environments.
• Maintain Linux servers, EC2, MASH, RHEL9 kickstart images, system security, and SSP accreditations.
• Operate observability, monitoring, alerting, backups, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Maintain GitLab CI/CD and deployment automation, documentation, technical reviews, and post-mortems.
• Support system stability, performance, security, and scalability across data transformation and web-based platforms.

Requirements

• Current TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph required before applying; candidates seeking clearance eligibility do not meet the minimum requirements.
• 12 years of experience and a B.S. in a technical discipline, or 16 years of experience in place of the degree.
• Strong Linux system administration experience, including RHEL9.
• Proficiency with Ansible, including Semaphore, Terraform, Packer, Bash, and Python.
• Knowledge of SSP compliance and processes, including STE/STN.
• Experience with Podman, Kubernetes, and AWS services including EC2, S3, VPCs, and IAM.
• Experience with Kibana, Grafana, and Prometheus for metrics and observability.
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Redis, or graph database administration.

Nice to have

• NiFi dataflow experience and Elastic Stack experience, including Logstash and Filebeat.
• Graph database experience and additional AWS services such as EKS, ECS, Lambda, and Secrets Manager.
• GitLab CI/CD, CNO, low-to-high development, or Cisco networking experience.
