Network Engineer (Cisco & Extreme | FISMA)

What you will do

• Design, configure, and maintain Cisco and Extreme Layer 3/4 switches in high-availability environments.
• Deploy and manage 10 Gb and higher uplinks, redundant paths, and resilient network architectures.
• Implement secure VLAN architectures, OSPF, BGP, ACLs, QoS, and network segmentation.
• Monitor performance, troubleshoot incidents, optimize throughput and reliability, and participate in root-cause analysis and after-action reviews.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to maintain compliance with FISMA High, NIST 800-53, and RMF requirements.
• Maintain configuration baselines, network diagrams, audit records, and change-control documentation.

Requirements

• 9+ years of professional Network Engineer experience in enterprise or federal environments.
• Hands-on expertise with Cisco IOS/XE and ExtremeXOS or Extreme Fabric solutions.
• Experience deploying and supporting 10 Gb or faster backbone links.
• Strong knowledge of Layer 3/4 routing and switching, VLANs, ACLs, QoS, and network segmentation.
• Experience in FISMA High or comparable regulated environments such as DoD, NASA, or DHS.
• Familiarity with NIST 800-53, RMF, and security compliance frameworks.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required clearances.

Nice to have

• Cisco certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent.
• Extreme Networks certifications such as ENSA or ENSD.
• Experience with network automation using Python, Ansible, or REST APIs.
• Knowledge of firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN technologies, and Zero Trust architecture.
