Staff Product Designer (AI Products)

Location: United States; open to remote or hybrid work. Hybrid hubs are in San Francisco, New York City, and Chicago, and some roles may be performed from anywhere in the country.

Annual base pay: $210,000–$247,000 in the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City; $183,000–$215,000 in other US locations. The role may also include performance-based bonuses, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Own and document Komodo’s design language across principles, typography, color, motion, voice, and core patterns.
• Build and maintain AI-ready skills, components, and templates that help PMs, engineers, and forward deployed teams create consistent prototypes and products.
• Design AI interfaces, agentic workflows, dense analytic experiences, and new products, using AI prototyping tools and Figma.
• Encode recurring design fixes in shared skills and tools rather than addressing them only at the screen level.
• Design and prototype flagship experiences and take them from concept through general availability.
• Measure design quality, task success, and adoption across shipped products.

Requirements

• Exceptional visual, interaction, and content design craft; a portfolio is required, with the ability to explain improvements to each piece.
• Ability to build working UI prototypes with AI tools and fix components in code; the interview includes a building exercise.
• Daily use of Claude or similar AI tools for design, with an understanding of how AI reads skills, why output drifts, and how to make the desired output the default.
• Experience building a design system, skill, component library, or toolkit adopted outside the immediate team, with evidence of its effect on shipped work.
• Experience designing AI products where AI performs meaningful work, including interfaces for reasoning, sources, uncertainty, and human checking.
• 8+ years of product design experience, including leading design for a complex B2B, data, or analytics product from first prototype to scale.
• Excellent written communication that enables people and AI to follow design guidance.

Nice to have

• Healthcare or regulated data experience, including claims, EHR, patient journeys, or provider analytics.
• Data visualization experience for dense analytic workflows.
• Front-end engineering background.
• Experience taking a design system through a platform or brand transition.
