Staff Product Designer (AI)

Location: San Francisco, United States; hybrid workplace

Salary: $215K–$260K plus equity

What you will do

• Shape product direction, experience vision, opportunity areas, and roadmap decisions with Product, Engineering, and GTM leadership.
• Lead complex, ambiguous design initiatives from discovery through launch while balancing user needs, technical constraints, and business priorities.
• Design AI experiences that help clinic staff, patients, and internal operators understand, trust, and effectively use AI.
• Connect workflows across products, personas, and touchpoints by resolving fragmentation and creating scalable patterns.
• Define measurable outcomes with cross-functional partners and use research, product data, and customer feedback to improve adoption, retention, and expansion.
• Evolve the design system, strengthen Engineering collaboration, mentor designers, and raise the quality and consistency of design execution.

Requirements

• Track record of shipping complex digital products and leading design initiatives across teams or product areas; startup experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience shaping product strategy through design, identifying consequential problems, aligning stakeholders, and translating long-term vision into practical steps.
• Experience designing for multiple personas and interconnected workflows, ideally in complex healthcare or AI-driven products.
• Strong product judgment and a record of delivering measurable customer and business outcomes such as adoption, conversion, retention, or expansion.
• Portfolio demonstrating systems thinking, exceptional interaction and visual design, complete workflows, edge cases, and design decisions.
• Ability to lead through influence, build alignment, navigate disagreement, and make sound decisions amid ambiguity.
• Hands-on ability to move between product strategy, detailed execution, and iteration with Engineering.
• Deep Figma expertise and experience building scalable components, patterns, and design systems.
• Fluency with AI tools for exploration, research synthesis, prototyping, and communication, plus judgment about where they add value; comfort using Figma Make and Cursor.

Nice to have

• Experience as an early design hire or founding designer at a startup.
• Experience designing AI interactions involving uncertainty, human oversight, and user trust.
• Design engineering experience and interest in contributing production UI, reusable components, or design system infrastructure.
