Internal Communications Manager, Product (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA; hybrid policy requiring staff to work from an Anthropic office at least 25% of the time

Annual salary: $265,000–$295,000 USD

What you will do

• Own the internal communications strategy for the Product organization and act as a trusted communications partner to its leadership team.
• Advise executives on messaging and timing, draft communications in their voices, and provide candid counsel.
• Translate technical product, engineering, infrastructure, and security work into clear narratives for employees across the company.
• Anticipate communications needs around launches, incidents, organizational change, and external attention.
• Design strategies that improve signal and reduce noise, and plan all-hands meetings, AMAs, and other internal forums.
• Coordinate with the broader internal communications team to ensure accurate and consistent updates across channels.

Requirements

• 8–12 years of experience in communications or an adjacent field such as journalism, speechwriting, chief of staff work, strategy, or operations.
• Exceptional writing skills, including the ability to distill complex technical decisions and cross-functional projects into compelling narratives and write convincingly in another person’s voice.
• Experience serving as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and building effective executive relationships.
• Ability to work credibly with engineers, product managers, and researchers; curiosity about technical systems and the ability to earn trust from technical stakeholders.
• Ability to connect team updates to company strategy and mission, with strong awareness of organizational culture.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience; relevant field of study demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience.

Nice to have

• Experience communicating about product, engineering, security, infrastructure, or other technical domains.
• Experience at an AI company, frontier technology company, or organization where technical work moves rapidly.
• Experience building or running internal communications programs during rapid organizational growth.
