Sr. Content Strategist

Location: Fully remote within the United States, with occasional travel to the client’s headquarters in Baltimore, MD. Legal authorization to work in the US is required; hirify.global does not provide visa sponsorship.

Salary: $100,000–$110,000 per year.

What you will do

• Own the content strategy for a federal health agency’s open data platform, aligning it with program objectives, quarterly OKRs, and the product roadmap.
• Develop content guidelines, style standards, editorial workflows, and governance processes across contributing agency offices.
• Maintain and evolve taxonomy, metadata, information architecture, naming conventions, and Drupal publishing workflows.
• Lead content migration and consolidation from other agency data websites, including inventories, audits, mapping, redirects, and execution planning.
• Partner with developers, analytics staff, researchers, data owners, and government stakeholders to improve findability and make complex data understandable.
• Review and support at least 10 new data product releases annually, maintain supporting documentation, and ensure content meets accessibility standards.

Requirements

• BA in Communications, English, Information Science, Library Science, Journalism, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of experience in content strategy, including at least 5 years creating content guidelines and planning taxonomies for public-facing data websites.
• Experience with federal content migration projects and agile delivery teams using tools such as Jira and Confluence.
• Strong plain-language writing and editing skills for audiences with different levels of data fluency.
• Working knowledge of Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA requirements for web content and documents.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable Public Trust determination for a federal government contract.

Nice to have

• Experience with federal health programs or health data.
• Experience consolidating multiple websites into a single platform.
• Familiarity with DCAT-US 1.1, data dictionaries, and methodology documentation.
• Experience authoring and governing content in Drupal.
• Familiarity with the U.S. Web Design System, agency design systems, and the Digital Services Playbook.
• Experience working with user researchers, including studies subject to the Paperwork Reduction Act.
• Master’s degree in a related field.
