Bridge Inspection Team Leader (Structural Engineering)

Location: Rocky Hill, CT, United States; hybrid schedule with on-site field work and office work

Compensation: $98,000–$160,000 per year

Engineering and consulting services provider working on infrastructure projects including roads, bridges, tunnels, mass transit, airports, water treatment plants, pipelines, environmental restoration, and construction.

What you will do

• Lead field inspections to determine the structural condition of bridges, tunnels, overhead sign structures, and other assets.
• Write technical inspection reports and review the work of other staff.
• Prepare CAD drawings for bridge and highway projects.
• Assist with structural analysis, load-rating-related work, design tasks, and supporting documentation.
• Support project managers with schedules, deliverables, budgets, and client and collaborator relationships.
• Manage structural assignments from concept through construction documentation.

Requirements

• BS degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• 5–8+ years of relevant experience in inspection, load rating, or structural design.
• EIT certification.
• Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or ability to obtain one within 6 months.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, MathCAD, Microsoft Office, AASHTOWare BrR/BrD, MIDAS, and LARSA.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and other contract documents.
• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces, use ladders, and work alongside live traffic.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a DOT Medical Certificate for operating bucket trucks and company vehicles.
• Availability for night and weekend work as needed; commitment to quality, accuracy, safety, and efficiency.
