TechOps Engineer, Senior Manager (Cyber Range)

Location: Onsite in Laurel, Maryland, with approximately 5% customer and/or other-site travel.

Salary: $135,000–$195,000 annualized USD.

What you will do

• Lead the development, maintenance, and delivery of technical training curriculum for in-person audiences.
• Manage and mentor one to two staff or senior personnel supporting training and cyber range activities.
• Translate customer and mission requirements into learning objectives, course materials, hands-on exercises, and assessments.
• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and document cyber range resources and supporting systems.
• Build realistic network and cyber operations scenarios using virtualization and infrastructure automation.
• Test and validate hardware and software, and coordinate with customers, technical teams, and instructors to execute training events.

Requirements

• 7+ years of overall experience in cyber operations, IT, systems engineering, or technical operations, including 1+ year developing and delivering technical training, instruction, or curriculum.
• Demonstrated experience operating and maintaining a cyber range or comparable virtualized training or test environment.
• Effective communication with customers and learners.
• Experience operating and troubleshooting Linux-based systems and virtualized environments.
• Working knowledge of networking fundamentals and the ability to configure or troubleshoot networked systems.
• Familiarity with Docker and Docker Compose.
• Experience using Ansible for configuration management or infrastructure automation.
• Experience supervising or leading a small technical team, including setting priorities and coaching staff.
• Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility or access (TS/SCI) required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Proxmox or OpenStack virtualization platforms.
• 2+ years of coding and scripting experience in Python and Bash.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code and Terraform or Packer.
• Datacenter operations experience, including planning, installing, cabling, or maintaining network and compute hardware.
• Experience configuring Cisco, Juniper, or Aruba routers and switches.
• Experience with network security monitoring tools such as Security Onion.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
